African American Museum Endowment

The African American Museum of Southern Illinois is a non-for-profit organization, founded in 1997 by the Southern Illinois Achievers, who have aspired to educate the community of the African American cultures that will enlighten the communitys wisdom and enhance the communitys knowledge of who, what, when and why our ancestors dedicated their lives in preserving our heritage. The Museum is dedicated to identifying, preserving and portraying the outstanding achievements of African American Citizens. This African American Museum of Southern Illinois is run entirely by volunteers, along with fifteen board members, and is the only African American History Museum between Chicago and Chattanooga.
